Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana 2017
Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana is a new upcoming scheme of Narendra Modi Government in 2017 for senior citizens living below the poverty line. Under the new scheme the central government would offer free living assistive devices to senior citizens belong to BPL families to make their lives easy.
The senior citizens who are living below the poverty line, will now get for free assistive devices like hearing aids and wheelchairs under the government’s Rs 477 crore scheme which is set to be rolled out next week.
The scheme would be implemented at a cost of Rs. 477 Crore and will be launched on 25th March at a camp in Andhra Pradesh’s Nellore district. Under the scheme, the central government would provide free assistive devices like hearing aids, wheelchairs and many more among all.
The main motto of the scheme is to address the disabilities like low vision, hearing impairment, loss of teeth and locomotor disability.
There are 10.38 crore senior citizens in the country as per the Census of 2011 and 5.2 per cent of them suffer from some sort of old age-related disability.

Eligibility Criteria for Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana
- The age of beneficiary should be at least 60 years
- The person should be certified as living below the poverty line by a competent authority
